Illustration Friday: Heights

I realize I am cheating a little since I did not create this image specifically for the prompt but I just couldn't resist -- it fits too well.

This is one of the spreads from my book Lydia's Kite.

It is the story of a girl struggling to find healing and wholeness again after her father's death.

(below is the proceeding spread in the story...)

"Swamp" Illustration Friday (better late than never...)

A few weeks ago, I prepared this sample illustration for an author.

(He asked for "Looney Tune" like characters and the included text is from his manuscript.)

Then last week, I saw that "Swamp" was the prompt on Illustration Friday (Illustration Friday is a forum where artists and illustrators are invited to post work in response to a weekly word - which as the name suggests, is issued every Friday). So I decided to tweak the initial concept above and this is what I came up with. I didn't quite finish in time to upload it for the week but I thought I'd share it anyway.
